We all need support from our parish community sometimes. In fact, part of being a parish community means there is support there when you need it. We are proud to offer support services to our parishioners and our community. On this page, we invite you to explore the pastoral care services we provide and find out how to utilize those services or become involved as a volunteer.
If you have questions about Pastoral Ministries, please contact the Director of Pastoral Ministries, Nancy Davis at 608-742-6998 or email at [email protected].

We are looking for people who to write cards and donations of cards and books of stamps for this new ministry. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Nancy Davis at 608-742-6998 ext. 217 or email [email protected].
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
A prayer chain is an electronic way of contacting people who will individually offer up intercessory prayer for those who would like extra prayers. We all have situations arise that only prayer can help. This is a way of amplifying the power of prayer and drawing us closer as a church family. God hears and answers our prayers. There are two ways to participate in this ministry:
1. Become a pray-er. You will be contacted weekly when prayer requests come in. If you would like to become a link in the Prayer Chain, please call, Pastoral Ministry leader Nancy Davis at 608-742-6998 ext. 217 or email at [email protected] (Portage) or Sr. Anita Henning at 6089812282 or email [email protected] (Briggsville).
2. Call or email a prayer request. If you would like to be prayed for, please call the Director of Pastoral Ministries, Nancy Davis at 608-742-6998 or email at [email protected] (Portage) or Sr. Anita Henning at 608-981-2282 or email [email protected] (Briggsville). Please keep us updated as to the outcome. Your request will remain with the Prayer Chain for one week, unless we hear from you that more prayers are needed. We are happy to keep you on the Prayer Chain as long as needed. Your requests will be kept confidential. No names will be used. When you call or email, please let us know if you would like to receive Holy Communion or would like a visit.
We encourage you to share answered prayers along with the miracles that have happened because of prayer.
The mission of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is to create shawls for people who would like some extra comfort and prayer. Each shawl is knitted or crocheted by hand. The person who is creating the shawl says prayers for the person who will receive it. The shawls are a visible sign of the care and prayers from our parish community to people in need. They also provide comfort and warmth for the body, mind and spirit.
A Pastoral Care minister or volunteer can deliver the handmade shawls to people at their home. You can also pick one up in the back of church.
If you are interested in volunteering as a part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry, please visit our Pastoral Ministries page.
"Shawls ... made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles..."
